NEWARK — Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist hopes his teammates take time to think about how well they have played going into a long break.
He will also have time to reflect on his climb up the N.H.L’.s career wins list.
Lundqvist made 27 saves to take over sole possession of sixth place in wins as the Rangers won at Boston, 3-2, on Saturday night.
“I’m very proud to be on that list,” Lundqvist said. “It’s not something you think about when you start your career or seven, eight, nine years into your career. When you reach top 10, that’s probably the first time you look at that list.”
Mika Zibanejad scored two goals and Filip Chytil had the other for the Rangers, and Lundqvist got his 446th win to break a tie with Terry Sawchuk and move eight behind Curtis Joseph for fifth. It was the Rangers’ fourth win in five games, and their eighth in nine meetings against the Bruins.
The Rangers will be off for nine days for their bye week and the All-Star break.
“I think it’s good to get a break and reflect why did we have a good week here,” Lundqvist said. “Maybe we can do that on the beach somewhere and come back recharged.”
Danton Heinen and Brad Marchand scored for the Bruins, who lost in regulation for the second time in 10 games (7-2-1). Boston also lost its starting goalie, Tuukka Rask, to a concussion late in the first period.
Rask was hurt in a hard collision with Chytil, who was sent flying into his head by Boston defenseman Charlie McAvoy after scoring a goal charging the net at full speed with 1 minutes 28 seconds left in the opening period.
The hit sent Rask onto his back, where he was down for a while before being helped to the bench and then to the locker room. He entered tied with Cecil Thompson as the winningest goaltender in club history with 252 victories and was 6-0-1 in his previous seven starts.
“It was scary,” McAvoy said. “He seemed down and out. You saw firsthand the force that the guy went right into him. It didn’t look good right away. I just wanted to make sure he was OK. He came back to and we got him off the ice.”
Rask had six saves; his replacement, Jaroslav Halak, finished with 11.
Zibanejad scored the go-ahead goal on a power play with a wrist shot from the top of the left circle with 10:55 left in the third period. He became the second player in team history to score the winning goal in three straight games. Rod Gilbert did it in 1966.
David Quinn, a former Boston University player and coach, was back in TD Garden for the first time as the coach of the Rangers. Hanging above the ice was the Hockey East tournament championship banner the Terriers won last March. The Bruins’ Matt Grzelcyk, Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson and McAvoy played under Quinn at B.U.
“He seems to really care for each and every player,” Grzelcyk said before the game.
DUCKS 3, DEVILS 2 John Gibson made 29 saves and Troy Terry scored his first N.H.L. goal and set up another, sending Anaheim past the Devils at Prudential Center, the Ducks’ second straight victory after a team-record 12-game losing streak.
Gibson blanked Minnesota on Thursday night and was outstanding in sending the Devils to their third consecutive loss.
While Gibson held the Devils at bay, the Ducks made the most of their 14 shots at Mackenzie Blackwood, the Devils’ rookie goaltender.
Daniel Sprong also had a goal and an assist, and Derek Grant, who was playing in his second game with the Ducks after being acquired Wednesday, had an insurance goal early in the third period. Grant scored on a setup by Terry, who was recalled from the minors on Wednesday.
The Ducks made four trades in the three days leading to Gibson’s shutout win over Minnesota on Thursday. His only blemishes against the Devils came when Marcus Johansson scored from in close at 6 minutes 50 seconds of the first period and Jesper Bratt scored with 56 seconds to play.
“You don’t want to win one and then go back to losing, so I think this was as big a win as the game was in Minnesota,” said Gibson, who stopped all 14 shots he faced in the second period, when the Devils had three power plays.
“Maybe we deserved a little better,” said Kyle Palmieri, who was named to replace his injured teammate Taylor Hall on the Metropolitan Division roster for the All-Star Game next Sunday. “It’s a tough league to win in.”
Palmieri said of Gibson, “We were competing and we were following pucks at the net and testing him as much as we could, but we couldn’t find a way to get it through him.”B:
